Packed with swoons and yummy hockey players, Icing the Puck is a deliciously delivered anthology filled with fire, ice, and demigods.The interweaving of the stories together was SO much fun and the paranormal aspects were nicely folded into the stories creating another layer of interest. As a New Yorker now living in the desert, the love brought to creating my childhood home in the winter made my heart all the happy. This loveliness was the right book at the right time for me.Light the Lamp by Isabo Kelly 5/5

Light the Lamp by Isabo Kelly
I rate this story a 5
Isabo truly has a talent for writing short stories, I didn't feel like I missed out on anything with this story. Characters and story were very believable, I really liked Ann she is strong and witty.
Crossing the Lines by Stacey Agdern
I cannot give this story a rating because no matter how much I tried, I just couldn’t get into the story.
Change It Up by Kenzie MacLir
I gave this story a 5
As a paranormal romance reader I really enjoyed this story, not only because of the paranormal accepts but, also the unexpected Norse mythology. Both characters and storyline were very believable.
Even though I didn’t enjoy one of the stories I still recommend this book to both paranormal romance and sports fan readers.

Change it Up is the last story in Icing the Puck and the first of Kenzie MacLir's work that I've read. In fact it's the first book that she/they've written and IMO the partnership between Heather Lire and Laura Hunsaker is a success one.
I mostly read PNR but Change it Up was a fun way to... wait for it... change it up! It wasn't a long read - about the length of what I'd consider a short novella - however it was quite enjoyable. It's written in the third person and MacLir used a combination of romance troupes including 'athletes' and 'best friend's sibling' to bring together our protagonists, Reiner Jahr and Emma Chase.
Emma had had a crush on Reiner ever since she was an exchange student staying in his old room at his parents house in Norway. She'd made a fool of herself when she met him and though she had run into him a few times over the years due to her friendship with his younger sister, Astrid, she continued to get flustered when she saw him. Knowing this she was nervous about running into him at an event that she had planned for the Special Olympics. She never expected the night to end as it did!
What I liked about the story...
~ It's always fun to read about teenage blunders.
~ The unexpected Norse mythology
~ The connection between Reiner and Emma. They had a comfortableness about them. The fit together seamlessly.
~ Reiner's family. When he was going through his conflict they were all up in his business trying to help him through it. It was heartwarming.
What I didn't like about the story...
~ The length. The story was strong but it needed to be fleshed out. I had no problem feeling the link between Reiner and Emma but the conflict in the story felt rushed. It totally changed the feel of the story and I think it needed to be explored. I wanted to see them get their T-shirts dag nabbit!
Pet peeve alert
There were a few editing mistakes but my review copy was an ARC so hopefully they were corrected.
All in all Change it Up was a pleasurable read. And it's definitely not your typical sports romance!
